Just For Parents

"Parents are the key faith developers for their children - they can have either a positive or negative impact on their kids' faith growth. But either way, they'll have the biggest impact. You can have strong faith-shaping programs at church, but if you're not partnering with homes, you risk producing kids who have weak faith."

Give the Gift of Jesus to Your Family!

Anticipation, excitement, and wonder – these are the hallmarks of the Christmas season, especially for children.

  • When can get our tree?
  • Now that we have our tree, when can we decorate?
  • Can we decorate Christmas cookies?
  • Do you think it will snow on Christmas Eve?
  • I wonder what’s in those boxes under the tree?

In the midst of all the decorations and goodies, the parties and presents, is the greatest gift of all, just waiting to be discovered for all to see. It’s easy to let the busyness of the Christmas season distract us from what’s truly worth celebrating – the gift of Jesus.

We all make the to-do lists of what needs to be accomplished in order for Christmas to come. Mine tends to be rather lengthy…making truffles, candy, and cookies, decorating indoors and out, menu planning, writing the Christmas letter, planning holiday parties with friends and family, as well as details for Christmas Programs at church. Is time with Jesus included on your list? My favorite Jesus time is early in the morning when the house is quiet and the tree is lit. I have my coffee in one hand, Bible in the other and Christmas carols playing in the background.

Help your family unwrap the most glorious gift this season – Jesus. Rediscover the miracle of Christmas and help keep Jesus at the center of the busy holiday season. It’s a gift you can give your family that will last a lifetime!
