Happy Sesquicentennial!

Stories From the Heart
Click here to hear what some of our senior members have to say about life at Our Savior's as the church was "growing up."

The celebration of our 150th anniversary of OSLC continues in April with emphasis on music, worship, and arts.

We will again have a special display along with coffee and treats on Sunday, April 6. A “Story of the Heart” will be shared at all three worship services. There will be a special anniversary choir singing on April 6 made up of present and former members and directed by June Hall, choir director at OSLC for a number of years. On Sunday, April 13, our Kingdom Choir along with the JuBellate, brass, and organ will present the anthem in recognition of music at OSLC.

Rejoice! You are a part of a sesquicentennial! Not sure what that means? That long word means a marking of the completion of a century and a half or 150 years. It is true that each of you are a part of that. The year 2008 marks the completion of 150 years since Our Savior’s Lutheran Church was founded. We are the oldest Lutheran church in our community and the third oldest in our St. Paul Area Synod. We celebrate our sesquicentennial along with all the residents of the State of Minnesota as we also celebrate the state’s 150th anniversary. This calls for a celebration! We are preparing for a year long celebration at OSLC.

The theme for our celebration is “LIVING THE LEGACY—LEAVING THE LEGACY.” It will be a time of remembering the legacy that has been given to us by countless others from the past and then committing ourselves to becoming a legacy for future generations. Please note our new logo below which visualizes our theme.

Our celebration will be possible because of the leadership efforts of our volunteer 150 Task Force:

Tami Crawford: Coordinator
Doug Dybvig: Special Events
Jane Gay: Worship and Music
Terri Green: Youth and Education
Tim Hoien: Displays
Karen Miller: Events Manager
Brent Peterson: Historian
Deb Schultz: Visuals
Maureen & Gordy Spray: Shared Stories
Marlene Tangen: Publicist

These persons need your helping ideas and hands. Please contact any of these people if you can help in a particular area.

We look forward to a year of learning about and being thankful for the 150 years of ministry that OSLC has shared. We also celebrate our loving God who through his Son, Jesus, and the gift of the Holy Spirit has sustained us in the past and promises to guide us into ever new spiritual adventures.

Pastor Keith, General Chair, 150 Task Force
