Join us for Children's Ministry!
OSLC loves kids! Children get to worship, grow and encounter Jesus each week. Awesome kid's programs, great teachers and leaders, music and Bible stories are part of what makes Children's Ministry so much fun. Children age 2 through 4th grade join others in their age group for hands-on learning about Jesus through interactive Bible-stories, games, crafts, music and more! These age-approproiate lessons will benefit each child as they grow to understand God's love. If you have 5th or 6th grade kids click here to learn about CLUB 56 - Christ Leading Us Beyond 5th and 6th Grade!

Curriculum
To connect kids to Jesus, two different curriculums are used that incorporate the REAL Learning philosophy, a learning approach that results in long-term retention and life transformation. REAL Learning is:
- Relational– Learner-to-learner enhances learning and building Christian friendships.
- Experiential – What learners experience through discussion and actions sticks with them up to 9 times longer than what they simply hear or read.
Applicable – The aim of Christian education is to equip the learners to be both hearers and doers of God’s Word. Apply faith to life.
- Learner-based – Learners understand and retain more when the learning process takes into consideration how they learn best.
2-year-olds through Kindergarten
Through Hands-On Bible Curriculum our two-year-olds and preschoolers are greeted by special friends Cuddles the Lamb, Whiskers the Mouse or Pockets the Kangaroo. They use Interactive Storyboards and Thematic Bible Discovery Packs to engage all their senses. The CD accompanying the curriculum delights the children with simple rhymes, finger plays, and lively tunes. Classes are divided as follows: 2 year olds, 3 year olds, 4 year olds, and kindergarten.
Children must be 2 years of age on or before September 1 to participate in Children’s Ministry. Nursery is available for children younger than two. Click on nursery for more details. View a sample lesson at www.handsonbible.com
1st through 4th graders
Through Living Inside Out 1st-4th graders engage all learning styles with an exciting interactive, multimedia Bible lesson. There’s wonder, there’s surprise, there’s something new and amazingly big each week that keeps kids coming back.
Children experience God’s energy and power in a large group setting, and then are immediately gathered into small groups where authentic, meaningful relationships are built and friendships are formed, connecting and applying the Bible point to their lives. Each week at Living Inside Out, large group and small group learning experiences help kids discover one important truth about how to live out their faith 24/7. 1st-4th classes begin the hour in the Children’s Gathering Area and end their hour in grade specific small group classrooms. See map for location. View a sample lesson at www.groupslivinginsideout.com.
Choices for Families
To serve children best and maintain a safe environment for high-quality Christian education, families can choose from 3 options when enrolling their kids:
- Sunday School at 9:15 a.m.
-
Sunday School 10:30 a.m.
- WAVE - Wednesdays Are Very Exciting - Wednesday night from 5-6 p.m.
Staff
We staff our classes with a team of adult teachers working together cooperatively maintaining a one-to-ten ratio. Youth and adult assistants support teaching teams and offer children added attention, care and support. Teachers are provided with training, curriculum and on-going support. In addition to our teaching teams we have the Bucket Brigade that pulls supplies and prepares materials for our teachers. For the safety of all God's children, volunteers serving in direct contact with children must complete a background check.
Eat Supper at Church on Wednesdays! Leave the cooking to us on Wednesday! Supper is available at 5:45 p.m. and children’s choirs meet at 6:35! Supper is kid-friendly food for $3 a person. RSVP for supper by noon on Tuesdays to Wednesday Supper Coordinator Robin Sobczak at
